efio built a cloud platform on AWS using IaC, Infrastructure-as-Code for Novo Nordisk. Our client, Novo Nordisk A/S is a Danish multinational pharmaceutical company developing innovative medicine and delivering systems to improve the daily life of millions of people. Novo Nordisk supplies about 50% of the world’s insulin and provides over 32 million people with their daily diabetes care products.
efio worked together with the Novo Research Application Platform (NRAP), which is used within the R&D. It is put together by off-the-shelf products for data integration and management of inventory and science data. The platform consists of both classic 3-tier and cloud-native applications.
efio was part of the NRAP project from the beginning and helped develop it into a service now consisting of 20+ servers, containers, autoscaling groups, and load balancers, with the platform fully automated on AWS through infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.
A special focus area within life sciences with the need to meet extremely high standards of compliance to achieve a license to operate (eg. FDA compliance for selling in the USA). efio helped meet these needs while still developing faster time-to-market infrastructure using compliance-as-code.
As the project was new to Amazon Web Services (AWS), efio advised the team on AWS best practices to optimize the usage of cloud infrastructure on AWS.
